SPECIAL OPPORTUNITY/RITE OF CHRISTIAN INITIATION OF ADULTS (RCIA)

Would you like to know how much you are loved by God?  Fr. Clay will be offering an opportunity to learn more about the spiritual journey and to be transformed by that journey. This will be from the Christian perspective which includes our perspective as Catholics. This is offered for those who are not Catholic and want to learn more about us. It is also for adult Catholics who would like to celebrate First Communion or Confirmation. The group’s initial, introductory meeting will be on September 25 after the 10:00 a.m. mass and then the *second and fourth Sundays of October through April from 11:30-1:00 p.m. in the Church Hall. Father Clay will be present at each meeting. To register, please call Pat Heroff at 651-964-2808 or email at pat@ststans.org. *correction from first and third Sundays previously announced.

AN ADVENT INVITATION

During Advent, we will be using the booklet “Prepare His Way” whose four suggested themes focus on Hope, Healing, Justice and Peace. We invite you to join us on Tuesdays, December 6 and 20, from 1-2 p.m. or Thursdays, December 1 and 15 from 6-7 p.m. in the Parish Center. You can pick up the booklet with daily readings from Pope Francis, St. Mother Teresa, and Father Henri Nouwen on the first day of each gathering. We will read through the first week of readings together and share our thoughts as we prepare ourselves for Christ’s coming into our lives anew. The St. Stan’s Library will be open after the 10:00 mass on the first Sunday of every month. Parishioners can check out, return, or donate books at this time. The library is located in the Parish Center, across the street from the church.

There are many lights during this winter season. JESUS is truly the Light of Lights. As we share this advent time of waiting together in expectation, this retreat will provide a space for silence, scripture, prayer, stories, music and fellowship. Then perhaps we will notice more tenderly the lights that forever shine brightly in this sparkling, wintery season. FIRST TUESDAY OF THE MONTH GROUP FALL READING

Join us for a book study on Monastery of the Heart: An Invitation to a Meaningful Life by Joan Chittister. The prose is simple, straightforward, and beautiful. The group will meet on the first Tuesday of the month beginning on October 4, 2016 from 7-8:30 p.m. until March.  A pdf of a study guide and a reading assignment will be emailed to participants in order to prepare for the first session. The Apollo Male Chorus under the direction of Dr. Sean Vogt will be joined by Bells of the Lakes, a Twin Cities handbell ensemble directed by William H. Mathis in two holiday concerts.  These concerts will be held at the Church of St. Stanislaus in St. Paul’s West Seventh neighborhood the evening of Saturday, December 10 and at Shepherd of the Hills Lutheran Church in Edina on Sunday afternoon, December 11.  Music from Gustav Holst to Irving Berlin to John Rutter will get you in the holiday mood.  From the birth of a heavenly king to city sidewalks dressed in holiday style you will experience music of the season.  Tickets are available online at http://www.theapolloclub.org/

This is our ninth year of gathering monthly on the 11th of the month in hope and peace for all living beings and for Earth. Each gathering has a different justice theme including immigration, care of earth, dismantling racism, St. Paul-Nagasaki Sister City Project, immigration, etc.

FREE and open to the public.
